Christian Homeschool Fellowship South Africa Curricula & Resource  Convention

Christian Homeschool Fellowship South Africa invites you to attend a day filled with information and fun for the whole family. We are catering on this day for all ages by providing a supervised toddler activity room, activities for the intermediate children, a science and geography fair for the pre-teens and teens and talks and vendors for the parents.

The Venue

The venue is perfect for a family fun day. Providing a large hall for browsing and purchasing at the vendors stalls. Another hall lends itself to our guest speakers. The toddlers will be entertained in a separate and secure room watched by responsible homeschooled teenagers and an adult. They will have play-dough, colouring in, a ball pond and giant LEGO flexi blocks. Juice and biscuits will be available. This service is for all children from 12 months – 3 yrs only.

The intermediate group will have PLAYBALL and KINEY TINY to play with them as well as access to a lovely playground with slides, swings and a jungle gym. Fathers from the Christian Homeschool Fellowship Support Group will supervise these activities, but you will be held responsible for  your children’s behaviour. Building of LEGO cars and racing them will also be on the agenda. Face painting and balloon tying will be a treat for a small fee of R5 each per child. There will also be a puppet show during the day for children at no charge

The older group can display their projects in the foyer for all to admire. THE BIG PICTURE will have numerous activities for teens like movie making sets, a robotic wall climber and others. A volley ball net will also be hoisted for them to organise a game of volleyball.

Tea and coffee will also be available from the kitchen at a reasonable cost. Whilst there will be a few vendors with light lunches, parents attending the convention are welcome to bring their own picnic lunches and eat them in the park alongside the venue. All your litter will need to be removed by yourselves or placed in the bins provided.

Vendors

We have invited all those you know and many that you don’t. The big names in homeschooling providers are there as well as suppliers of Teaching Aids, Stationery, Educational Computer Games, Educational Books, Bible Curricula, OBE and parents resource materials. Companies that offer extra mural activities will be there to talk to you as well.  We expect around 30 vendors.

Guest Speakers

Mr L Van Oostrum of the Pestalozzi Trust will address parents on the current crisis in education as well as the procedure for registration for home education. Martie Du Plessis from DYNAMIS will help parents to create a safe place for our children to learn and grow with their individual needs. Helen Olivier will talk about nutrition for adults and children and a way to overcome the need for labels like ADHD and ADD. Wendy Young will talk about how to provide A Living Education for your children using the Charlotte Mason philosophy. Kathy Le Cordeur will give a talk to encourage homeschooling moms.
